Follicular Unit Transplantation Using Donor Strip Excision "Traditional strip harvesting is the most common technique for removing hair and follicles from a donor site. A single blade scalpel is used to remove a strip of hair-bearing tissue. Each incision is planned carefully to assure that the follicles are removed intact. The follicles are dissected out of the strip under a microscope into slivers or shavings. Then further dissected into the form in which they are to be transplanted. For example, single follicles for single-hair transplantation, groups of two to four follicles for follicular unit grafting.
